Meet Ryan Newman
MA, RCC
(he/him/his)
I like to say that I'm in the business of helping people become themselves. In other words, I think that at the heart of every person is a unique and beautiful blueprint for a deeply fulfilling life. However, we can move away from who we truly are when painful things happen to us. We get stuck in dysfunctional cycles and find ourselves saying "this isn't me, how did I get here?"
The good news is that your story isn't over! The brain has an amazing ability to shift even the most rigid patterns. Safe, compassionate, authentic relationships are often the platform for healing and I consider it a sacred privilege to walk alongside others in this journey.

Be curious, not judgemental ~Ted Lasso

A bit of my story
I've always been someone who feels deeply. Although I'm grateful for this superpower now, as a child it meant learning to hold in my tears and pretend that I was OK. Learning to undo these patterns was a long process, but was made significantly easier by people in my life who could see beyond my defences.
My counselling style
I bring my whole self into the work that I do because I believe that healing comes through authentic relationships. This means that instead of being a distant observer, I'm deeply invested in the lives of my clients. I work best with clients who are open to learning about their internal landscape in an experiential and relational way.
What you can expect
You can expect me to show up authentically with you. I will delight with you in the moments of laughter and playfulness, and travel with you to the spaces that feel dark and overwhelming. I'm not big on advice-giving, but rather trust that your inner wisdom will lead us exactly where we need to go.

Hobbies & Interests
When I'm not in the counselling room, you'll likely find me engrossed in one of my many hobbies. I absolutely love playing board games and have a massive library at home (my favourites are currently Scythe, Vantage, and Flip 7). I'm also a roller coaster enthusiast and am constantly planning my next adventure to a Six Flags park. Otherwise, my time is spent playing music, volleyball, or video games.
